What are double sided tapes?
Liner:
The bit that is taken off and thrown away. Usually paper or filmic.
Adhesive:
- Hotmelt: high initial tack, no real temperature resistance, generally not long term.
- Rubber: usually better than hotmelt adhesive.
- Acrylic: out performs above in temperature resistance and aging qualities. modified acrylics also have high initial tack but lose some shear and tensile strength.
- Silicone: extreme temperature resistance. Bonds well to very difficult surfaces. Not many tapes available. Very high cost.
Carrier:
The bit in the middle, such as tissue, paper, polyester, foam etc.
